This past weekend the RBHS Rowing Club competed in the Buffalo and Selborne Sprints regatta, hosted on the Buffalo River in East London. Boat race result
In December of 2024 the Rondebosch 1st 8 (the premier boat class and 1stbteam) competed at the annual Schools Boat Race. An event where the 1st teams from all rowing schools compete in a time trial to be the fastest down a 5km tidal river with twists and turns. The tides make the race even more interesting as incoming tide will slow the boats speed down while using the out going can speed you up. Rondebosch Boys’ rowers selected for world champs
Rondebosch Boys’ matriculant Ryan Dellbridge and coach Junaid Jacobs have been selected to represent South Africa, in Canada next month. The rowers will compete against the world’s best at the Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course, in Ontario. After a three-month selection process, 23 athletes -12 girls and 11 boys – were selected for a variety of events. Ryan, along with his rowing partner, Robert Hirschson (SACS matriculant), were selected to row in the under-19 junior men’s double race, coached by Jacobs. They were the only two Western Cape rowers to be selected.
End of 2023 – 2024 Rowing Season
We have come to the end of a sensational 2023- 2024 Rowing season. We have watched our boys from the sidelines practice and compete while pushing their physical and emotional abilities to their limits. Like every other season, they learnt to deal with stress, expectations, emotions, success, and failure on a level that helped them grow into mature young men.
