End of 2023 – 2024 Rowing Season

We have come to the end of a sensational 2023- 2024 Rowing season. We have watched our boys from the sidelines practice and compete while pushing their physical and emotional abilities to their limits. Like every other season, they learnt to deal with stress, expectations, emotions, success, and failure on a level that helped them grow into mature young men. It is amazing to see the changes in our boys from the beginning to the end of each season.
Farewell
We would like to say farewell to the Senior Opens boys and parents. These boys now get a break from rowing and focus on their academics to complete the final push to get to the end of Matric.
We spent a lot of time with these beautiful people next to the water, cheering the boys on all over the country and many of them were the ones to hold our hands when we arrived in the club for the first time and made us feel so welcome.

The senior boys carried on and ran with many old traditions that are deeply ingrained within the boys and the club and which they will remember for the rest of their lives.
Western Cape Rowing
Now at long last Western Province Rowing, full Provincial classification.
Although the Rowing season is done for most boys, there is still some rowing action going on! Boys from U16 and the Opens are invited every year to trial for Western Cape Rowing. This is a grueling process of erg and water trials. Boys from RBHS, Bishops, SACS and SOMCOL compete for selection.
On Monday 11 March the boys tackled the ergo trials at UCT Rowing Club. On Sat 16 March the boys did water trials. A huge congratulations to the following boys who made it into the WP Rowing Squad!

These boys still have a hard training schedule ahead of them in preparation for SA Senior Champs on 27 & 28 April at Roodeplaat in Pretoria. They will be competing against other Provinces as well as the University Clubs and some of our Opens boys will be fighting for a position in the SA Worlds squad!
Last year our U16 boys brought home 3 winning medals (Pair, Quad & Eight). Hope to see more medals this year!
Wishing the boys all the best!

Thank you to Ryan and Joshua for the great example and standards they set for the younger boys, their personal involvement and handing the reins over to Ethan and Kai.
